USA	posted 18 September 2000 02:31 PM profile ..couldn't think of any either for Florida, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Missouri, Kansas (Kansas City doesn't count, it's about the city) Nebrasks, Iowa, North or South Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin (Other than "On Wisconsin") Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Hawaii or Alaska. ....I did just remember one from the band Black Oak Arkansas, tune was "Uncle Lijah", line was "so he jumped in bed with his ma and pa, and he told them that the Devil was in Arkansas".....

Baltimore's made it into a couple of tunes ("Streets of Baltimore" and Roger Miller's "Engine, Engine, Number 9") but not the whole state. It occurs to me that it may have gotten mentioned in Mary-Chapin Carpenter's "Down in Mary's Land", but the title is a reference to St. Mary's County and I don't recall if she mentioned the state. ------------------ Rick Richtmyer Good News

Bob Dylan's "The Lonesome Death Of Hattie Carroll" was about a murder in Baltimore and has the phrase "Maryland politics."

David Bromberg has a song called "New Lee Highway Blues" that starts off: All through Northern Oregon Always by my side ect... There are also a few songs about the Oregon Trail and the Columbia River which borders Oregon and Washington (which is also where I spend alot of time windsurfing ).

Goes something like 'New Mexico ain't bad girl, the people there treat you kind'.... Though I think it would be more of a challenge to find a song with New Mexico in the title.
