I was in my car today complaining in my head about how much new country sucks. Then a pretty decent tune came on and I thought, now there's a good country song and singer. I swallowed my pride when they said it was Toby Keith. Some tune about how he's gonna miss drinkin or something like that. I've been known to bash the guy for his crimes of bad taste, but it was a pretty authentic and good tune. Anyone know the steeler?

Lord knows a workers bound to get somethings right eventually.

Don, your thread got close before I even seen it...

I have a comment on it... but I don't want to get TWO of Brad's threads closed in the same month!

Don, I was surprised when that thread of your's got closed. I was even more surprised at Haggards' defending the Dixie Chicks! Quite a turn-around from his "Fightin' Side Of Me" days, wouldn't you say?

I was mostly surprised that Haggard likes Toby Keith!

Is that TK song you're talkin' about "You Ain't Much Fun Since I Quit Drinking" or something close to that?

I was surprised too. I sent an email requesting an explaination. I also sent an email to Hag to see what he thought. We'll see if he answers.

David L. Donald - email me

P Gleespen - that was sort of my point about TK

All - I had a great discussion by email with b0b. He is a great guy and took great pains to explain to me what was going on. I won't mention any names but had I known there was such a sore spot around here with those "three Southern Belles" I would have never brought it up. I was just trying to raise a discussion around the fact that Hag, one of the greatest honky tonk icons that are so missed today, apparently supposrts TK, who is the object of quite a bit of bashing around here. Sorry I brought it up now. Again, b0b was quite a gentleman about the whole thing. We are lucky to have him around.

Now I understand the thread. For a second I thought "cold busted" referred to the burst water line coming from my well house after the last hard freeze we had.

'Course, that was back in 1997.

Don,

I just checked back and found things locked up there as well. I'm pretty sure b0b felt that with me disagreeing with Hag that it could only go downhill from there.

On "Haggard Like Never Before", released earlier this year, Merle has 3 tunes that show he's learned to be more subtle with his own political statements. Really lays it out there and lets the listen draw their own conclusion-- not in your face like "Fightin' Side". Not saying which way I prefer, but Merle's mellowed a bit.

Well it seems TK has found a writer, or wrote himself,
something in the more classic vien of country

Bars and regrets, longing and moving on.

Amoungst the new country is some old country it was built on.
Some people just wander back to their roots some times.
Good.

Don you've got mail, and shortly eye strain LOL.
