He is playing a Supro (about 1949). I think the model is Comet, although not sure. Most likely brown MOTS with attached cord. I have one like it. The earlier ones came without a pickup cover, some of the later ones had a plastic pickup cover. A rockin' guitar for sure. |

From a good friend and Hank Williams specialist in Nova Scotia, he advises the steel player is Sonny R. D. Norred, guitar player is Red Tood, bass player is Lum York who recently passed away. The year is 1948. Geo in Peach Picking Country, Niagara. http://thepeachpickers.com/ |

It's actually Clyde "Chris" Criswell Born: 2/20/29 Penn.Died: 9/23/71 Tampa, FL. Clyde was from Tampa Bay area of Florida and he Left the Cowboys in the Mid 40's (c. 1946)and was replaced by Joe Penny. After leaving the Cowboys, Clyde played in bars around Tampa, FL. Ed - I wouldn't put it up against a SuperSlide. Apples and Oranges. But those old Supros have their own kind of charm, and they are awesome with a tube amp pushed hard. I believe Dan Tyack uses one. Comments, Dan? |
